Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to offer great benefits. However, there are equity concerns, including unequal access to AI tools and white-biased AI tools, data privacy concerns, and lack of representation from historically marginalized groups. To ensure equitable access to AI technology for environmental justice (EJ) communities and to ensure that AI meets the needs of EJ communities, E2I2 is convening an AI for EJ Circle of Responsibility (AI 4 EJ CORE). AI 4 EJ CORE will consist of EJ community leaders and members who will meet virtually once a quarter.
E2I2 will oversee meeting administration and co-chair with the Savannah Riverkeeper. As we develop this initiative, we are actively looking for EJ community leaders and members to join us from regional and national locations. We will also be asking subject matter experts to attend our meetings on member requested topics.
